FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What kind of services does EldersChoice provide?

A. Our agency connects caregiver with consumers. We recruit screen, credential, and refer caregivers for interviews.

Q. What services does a referred caregiver provide?

A. Referred caregivers provide 24/7 live-in non-medical services such as personal care, homemaking and companionship services..

Q. Where do you provide services?

A. Services are available only in private homes or retirement communities in Maryland, Connecticut and Virginia.

Q. Do referred caregivers provide services by the hour?

A. No. EldersChoice only refers 24/7 live-in support with one primary caregiver.

Q. How does the cost of this service work?

A. Fees for services are based on a flat daily rate, not an hourly rate. Caregiver costs are mutually agreed upon by the client and the caregiver. EldersChoice is paid for ongoing placement services (and case management only in Connecticut). This approach to live-in support is usually more cost effective.

Q. Do you accept health insurance plans or long term care insurance?

A. EldersChoice is accepted for individuals and couples who have long-term care insurance with an eligible home care benefit, although we cannot guarantee the extent to which our services may be covered.

Q. How soon can services start and how do I contact EldersChoice?

A. Services typically begin within 24 to 72 hours after EldersChoice staff conducts a face to face assessment with the client. All potential clients must have a power of attorney, guardian or conservator. To get started, click on Locations tab and select the state in which the individual resides and fill out the contact form or call Andrew Weinberg at (443) 762-4676 in Maryland or Virginia, Debbie Clark or John Shulansky at (860) 888-3373 in Connecticut.
